Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) president Shwetha Menon said on Friday (December 12, 2025) that the organisation is with the survivor and there have been no talks yet on reinstatement of actor Dileep, who was acquitted by the Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court in the actor rape case.
“We are with her. She has been a big example for many women in our industry,” she told mediapersons after the court sentenced the six guilty in the case to 20 years’ imprisonment. “We are very happy with the quantum of punishment. Personally, I would prefer to appeal against the verdict and I hope that the survivor will have a similar view,” she said.
On Mr. Dileep’s reinstatement, she said that there were some misconception in the media that the executive committee held on December 8 discussed his reinstatement immediately after he was acquitted by the court. “Nobody has requested for his reinstatement yet,” she said.
She said that the association cannot jump in with a response on the court verdict as it was bound by certain norms while commenting on such issues.
