A 34-year-old woman was killed when her husband, who was attempting to park their car in their house in Avadi, reportedly crashed into her on Sunday (November 16, 2025) evening.
A senior official at the Avadi Police Commissioner’s Office said Raja, 38, lived with his wife Indumathi and two children at Pillaiyar Kovil Street of Konambedu, near Avadi.
Raja had bought a second-hand car about a month ago and had been taking driving lessons. On Sunday, he went to a temple with his family. As they returned home, he attempted to park the car in the portico; Indumathi guided him as he reversed the vehicle.
He, however, pressed the accelerator by mistake, and the car crashed into a wall after hitting Indumathi, who was caught between the vehicle and the wall. She suffered grievous injuries to the chest and stomach. She was taken to Avadi Government Hospital, where she died without responding to treatment.
The Avadi police have filed a case, and further investigations are under way.
