The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday (October 4, 2025) again criticised Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi for making “anti-India” remarks at a university in Colombia.

At a press conference, BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia accused Mr. Gandhi of defaming India on foreign soil. Citing an old newspaper report, he alleged that the Congress leader was “partying till 4 a.m. after the 2008 Mumbai terror strikes”.
Referring to the recent remarks made by former Union Ministers P. Chidambaram and Manish Tewari, Mr. Bhatia said after the 2008 Mumbai terror strike, the Congress-led UPA government did not take any strong measures against Pakistan as it “gave in to the U.S. pressure”. He accused the then UPA government of allowing foreign interference in the country’s internal affairs.
Mr. Bhatia sought a clarification from Mr. Gandhi and former Congress president Sonia Gandhi on the “revelations” made by Mr. Chidambaram.
