Chief Executive Officer of Bose Professional John Maier said the company chose Mangaluru for its first dedicated research and development centre outside its main headquarters in Massachusetts, USA, with a vision that extends far beyond research.
Speaking at a round table hosted recently by Vertex Managed Workspace in the city, Mr. Maier spotlighted Mangaluru’s emergence as a promising technology hub. Visiting Mangaluru to review Bose Professional‘s newly established Global Capability Centre (GCC) at Vertex Treo, Kadri, he praised the city’s ecosystem.
After starting with a single employee, the team has grown to 25 members under the leadership of Namith Padmaraj, director (Software Engineering), Mr. Maier said. The GCC is set to expand to 100 professionals within a year, contributing to global innovation in sound and futuristic products.
“The energy and talent we see here confirm that choosing Mangaluru was the right decision,“ he said.
Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner H.V. Darshan highlighted the significance of GCCs in shaping Mangaluru’s digital future. Drawing from his past role in framing Karnataka’s first-of-its-kind GCC policy in India, Mr. Darshan shared insights and gave suggestions about Animation, Visual, Gaming and Comics (AVGC) sound technologies.
He said, “The presence of global companies like Bose Professional strengthens the tech ecosystem and adds value to growth. Karnataka’s Beyond Bengaluru initiative and proactive policies ensure Tier II cities like Mangaluru can attract and sustain high-value investments.“
Vertex Managed Workspace founders Gurudatta Shenoy, Mahesh Shetty, and A.R. Mangaldeep welcomed Mr. Maier and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting global enterprises.
Mr. Shenoy said, “We have supported over 35 organisations with over 2,000 hassle-free workspaces across more than six premises in Mangaluru City.”
Manipal Institute of Technology director-commander Anil Rana and National Institute of Technology-Karnataka director B. Ravi were among those present.
