A new bridge being constructed on the Suvarnamukhi River will be ready very soon for vehicular movement. It is going to be a big relief for road users in the backdrop of ordeals due to non availability of a proper bridge for many years. The old bridge constructed during the British regime is very narrow and has become unfit for vehicular movement as the structure has become weak.
Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA of Parvatipuram Bonela Vijaya Chandra took the initiative for the construction of the new bridge a year ago. The government sanctioned ₹12 crore for the construction of the bridge, which is located on the important Vizianagaram-Parvatipuram route.
Mr. Vijaya Chandra said that trail run was completed successfully, and it would the bridge would be thrown open for vehicular movement very soon.
He alleged that the previous Youth, Labour, and Farmer Congress Party (YSRCP) Government had ignored the construction of the bridge in spite of repeated requests from people for the sanction of funds. He thanked the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for accepting his proposal and ensuring completion of the project.
“Meanwhile, Parvatipuram-Manyam District Collector N. Prabhakar Reddy directed R&B officials to cross-check the construction quality before the formal inauguration of the bridge. He stated that road users would have a hassle-free journey very soon with the completion of the bridge.”
