Cracking the whip on errant fertilizer traders, the Khammam Police Commissioner’s Task Force registered cases against five fertilizer shops in the district for allegedly compelling farmers to buy bio-stimulants along with urea in violation of the Fertilizer (Control) Order 1985.
The Task Force teams, on Wednesday, conducted surprise raids on fertilizer shops in Nelakondapalli, Chinthakani, Raghunadhapalem and Sattupalli mandals.
During the raids, it was found that some of the traders were resorting to “forced tagging” of bio-stimulants by imposing conditions on farmers to purchase the allied agro products along with urea, sources said.
Action has been recommended to cancel the trade licences of the five fertilizer shops for resorting to malpractices by taking advantage of the desperation of farmers to buy urea given the shortage of fertilizers.
