The Kalaimamani Awards were presented only to the most talented, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin said on Monday.
Presenting awards to various recipients at a ceremony in Muthamizh Peravai, Mr. Stalin recalled former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi’s association with the organisation and said he too was proud of his long association with the Peravai.
The Chief Minister said an award ceremony for artists from the small screens would be held in the next few days. The Tamil Nadu Government MGR Film and Television Training Institute awards will also be announced soon, he added.
He presented the Kalaignar Award to actor M. Nassar and the Rajaratna Award to Vaduvoor S.N.R. Krishnamurthy. Tiruvarur Pulavar R. Shanmugavadivelan received the Iyal Selvam Award and Gayathri Venkataraghavan received the Isai Selvam Award. Anitha Guha received the Natya Selvam Award.
T.K.R. Ayyappan and T.K.R. Meenakshisundaram received the Nadhaswara Selvam Award and Nangur N.K. Selvaganapathy received the Thavil Selvam Award. Thanjavur K. Murugaboopathi received the Mridhanga Selvam Award.
Minister Ma. Subramanian and MLAs Dha. Velu and J. Karunanithi were among those present on the occasion.
