Anglo Indian Community Association

Away from hotel dining rooms, Christmas finds a more intimate expression within the Anglo Indian Community Association, which is hosting its annual celebration on December 19 at St Joseph’s High School. The evening will include carol singing, games, a visit from Santa and traditional Christmas treats for its members. The association has close to 450 families, many of whom treat this gathering as a fixed point on their calendar.

Reflecting on the occasion, joint secretary Brian Irwin says that the celebration is less about formality and more about continuity. “Christmas gives our community a reason to come together across generations. For many of our senior members, this evening holds special meaning because it allows them to reconnect, share memories and feel part of a larger family once again,” he says.

In the days leading up to Christmas, on December 21 and 22, carol singers from the community will also visit the homes of families and friends, carrying forward a tradition that places music and fellowship at the centre of the season.
