Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin should call for an all-party meeting immediately to finalise the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for conduct of political public meetings in the State, said former State President of the Bharatiya Janata Party K. Annamalai.
Talking to the media in Coimbatore on Monday, he said there should be clarity on permissions for political public meetings. The BJP is willing to wait for a few days if the government could come out with SOP. There is confusion in place and date for a yatra planned by the BJP Tamil Nadu president Nainar Nagendran. The meeting of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami in Namakkal was cancelled. The Chief Minister should call for an all-party meeting at the earliest and decide the SOP.
Mr. Annamalai added that Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) president Thol Thirumavalavan was talking against the BJP government at the Centre and TVK leader and actor Vijay because several VCK cadre were joining other parties.
In the Karur incident, Mr. Vijay cannot be named as accused number one in the FIR. The government should take action on the officials and organisers concerned. There are mistakes on TVK side too, but Mr. Vijay cannot be made the main accused in the Karur issue. The State government is not taking action against the people it has mentioned in the FIR. In such a scenario, how can it blame the BJP of defending Mr. Vijay, he asked.
The BJP has faith in the Special Investigation Team (SIT) that is investigating the Karur incident and if needed there can be a CBI investigation too. The State government should share all details with the SIT, he added.
