In a swift action responding to the public complaints, the Yadgir City Municipal Council (CMC) officials cleared encroachments just outside the central bus terminal in Yadgir city.

Several pushcarts and kiosks where vendors sell fruits, tiffin, tea and coffee, cold drinks, and other eateries run at CMC’s place.

Many shoppers have complained about traffic disruptions, as buyers often stand right at the edge of the busy road. Additionally, autorickshaws frequently park in front of these shops, contributing to congestion and public noise.

“Considering the public inconveniences, the CMC has been forced to take action and removed all shops here,” Kumari Lalita Anapur, Chairman of CMC, has said.

On the other hand, shoppers requested CMC to allow them to run businesses as income out of such businesses helps to meet family needs.

“The CMC will plan to make arrangements to fix a particular place for such business without disturbing the traffic movement. But it will take some time,” Ms. Anapur said.

She also pointed out that the CMC has received complaints on illegal rent collection by an unknown person from the shoppers.

“We only had concern about disorderly business activities by the shoppers and pushcart vendors. As part of the action to ensure proper management, we removed all encroachments and don’t have any intention to harm poor vendors,” she clarified.
