The bomb detection and disposal squad (BDDS) carried out searches at the Coimbatore International Airport after it received a bomb threat on Sunday (September 28, 2025) afternoon.

The email threat claimed that explosive materials were planted at the airport and people had to be evacuated. The BDDS team, with a sniffer dog, rushed to the airport and carried out searches from 2.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m., covering the parking yard, passenger terminal and surroundings. Since no suspicious materials were found, the BDDS declared the threat a hoax.
