The Bengaluru zonal office of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided online gaming companies for alleged cheating and money laundering through crypto currency.
According to officials, the premises of two online gaming companies, owning Winzo app and Gamezkraft (pocket52.com), operating out of Bengaluru and Delhi, were searched.
A total of 11 premises were searched, out of which five are in Bengaluru, four in Delhi and two in Gurugram.
According to the ED: “Search is being carried out at the corporate office premises of these gaming operators along with residence of respective CEO/COO/CFO.”
Some persons have filed FIRs accusing these gaming companies of manipulating the algorithm of the app, putting gamers at a disadvantage.
“During the search, we unearthed that promoters own crypto wallets, indicating laundering through cryptocurrencies,” the ED claimed.
