Consensus reached on LDF candidates in Kasaragod district

The Left Democratic Front (LDF) has reached a consensus on candidate selection for the Assembly constituencies in Kasaragod district. The consensus was reached at a Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] district committee meeting on Sunday.

According to the understanding reached at the meeting, K.R. Jayanandan, CPI(M) district secretariat member, will be the LDF candidate in the Manjeswaram constituency.

The district committee also endorsed the State committee’s decision on candidates in the Uduma and Thrikkarippur constituencies. Sitting MLA C.H. Kunhambu will contest again in Uduma, while V.P.P. Mustafa will be fielded in Thrikkarippur.

In the Kanhangad constituency, Govindan Pallikappil, former district president of the Communist Party of India, will be the LDF candidate.

It has also been decided to allot the Kasaragod constituency again to the Indian National League (INL).

The CPI(M) district committee meeting was held in the presence of party State committee member M.V. Jayarajan.

Though an official announcement is yet to be made, party sources indicated that these names are likely to be declared as the LDF candidates in Kasaragod district.
