About 269 rehabilitation centres have been opened in all government buildings, schools and cyclone relief centres along the Kakinada coast as part of preparedness for the impending cyclone Montha, which is likely to make its landfall at Kakinada on October 28, 2025, as a severe cyclonic storm, as per IMD predictions. The landfall is expected to happen some time in the evening, with predictions of very heavy rainfall and winds reaching up to 100 kmph.
As many as 59 rehabilitation centres have been opened along the Uppada coast, where fisherfolk are vulnerable to cyclones and coastal erosion.
Kakinada District Collector S. Shan Mohan has said that at least 30 personnel from the National Disaster Response Force and 50 personnel from the State Disaster Response Force are on the ground for relief operation.
Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development P. Narayana is monitoring the preparedness measures and deployment of officials along the coastline.
In Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Konaseema district, the farmers have been advised not to harvest paddy as heavy rains and winds are expected in next two days.
