Citing a procedural flaw, the Kerala High Court on Friday (November 21, 2025) quashed an order by the Vigilance court that sought an inquiry against Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) M.R. Ajith Kumar in a disproportionate assets case.
The court said the Kerala government’s sanction is required to initiate proceedings against him in the case that had been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The petitioners in such cases can re-approach the court if the government accorded the sanction to prosecute the ADGP, the court added.
Contending that there was lack of evidence in the case, the ADGP submitted that the allegations against him were limited to allegations levelled by an MLA.
The ADGP had approached the High Court challenging the Vigilance court rejecting a preliminary inquiry by the VACB exonerating him from any wrongdoing in the case.
