Drinking water supply in Nagapattinam Municipal limits, town panchayats, and panchayat unions in the district will remain suspended for three days from November to facilitate maintenance and repair work to be taken up by the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage (TWAD) Board on the Combined Drinking Water Supply Scheme for 893 habitations.
The suspension of supply was meant to facilitate replacement of old motors at the main pumping station at Ammaiyappan, provide inter-connections to new ground-level sumps and plug a rupture on pumping mains along Mayiladuthurai-Nagapattinam National Highway.
Drinking water supply will remain suspended to Nagapattinam Municipality, Kilvelur and Velankanni town panchayats and the Kilvelur, Keezhaiyur, Thalignayiru, Nagapattinam and Thirumarugal panchayat union areas from November 7 to 9, the TWAD Board has said in an official press release.
