DSC jawan ends life in Air Force Station Sulur near Coimbatore


A Defence Security Corps (DSC) jawan was found dead at Air Force Station, Sulur, in Coimbatore district in a suspected case of suicide on Sunday (October 19, 2025).

The police have identified the deceased as Naik S. Sanu, 47, of Kadumthiruthy near Kannadi in Palakkad district in Kerala, who was posted as a DSC guard at the air force station.

As per the complaint lodged by Sanu’s wife Indulekha, 42, he visited the family on leave and stayed with them two weeks ago. Sanu was found to be under mental stress, following which he was taken to a hospital. He underwent counselling and was prescribed medication for a week. However, he took the medicines only for two days and returned to duty on October 12, the complainant stated.

According to the complainant, her husband told her later on a video call that he was feeling mentally stressed. A colleague of Sanu contacted the woman around 7.15 a.m. on Sunday and told her that he was found dead with his service rifle lying nearby, when they checked on him after hearing a gunshot at 6.10 a.m.

The Sulur police said that the incident took place at the 13th tower post at the air force station.

The police registered a case under Section 194 (police to enquire and report on suicide, etc.) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita based on a complaint from the jawan’s wife. The body was handed over to the family after the post-mortem examination at the Government Medical College and ESI Hospital, Coimbatore.
