Senior dubbing artist Bhagyalakshmi on Tuesday (December 9, 2025) resigned from the Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) in protest against the film body’s move to reinstate actor Dileep after he was acquitted by the Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court in the actor rape case.
Ms. Bhagyalakshmi alleged that the federation had failed to stand with the survivor. “Mr. Dileep had been acquitted by the lower court. He can be called not guilty only if the Supreme Court delivered such a verdict,” she said.
She said the film bodies were “so quick” to initiate steps to reinstate Mr. Dileep since such discussions began immediately after the court acquitted him. “That clearly showed that these organisations will never stand with the survivors,” she alleged.
Bhagyalakshmi said her long-standing position of siding with the survivors will be termed “hollow” if she did not resign in protest against the move by the film bodies, including FEFKA, to reinstate the actor.
She also accused the leadership of the federation of “not trying to understand the pain” being suffered by the survivor. “They have never tried to either speak to her or console her,” she alleged.
Ms. Bhagyalakshmi was referring to the discussions initiated by FEFKA, Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) and the Kerala Film Producers Association to reinstate Mr. Dileep in the wake of the court verdict.
