Dindigul Taluk Police arrested eight persons on Saturday in connection with the murder of V. Jesudass and his second wife, Deepika. The couple were murdered at different locations in Dindigul district at around 8 p.m. on January 8.
The police arrested Gnanaraj, Arulraj, Dharmaraj, Robin, Anthony Arokiasamy, Michael Raj, Xavier Albert and Manikandan and remanded them in judicial custody. The police are on the lookout for another person, John Kennedy.
The police suspect that it is a case of revenge murder. In 2024, DMK functionary and liquor bar operator Mayandi Joseph of Yagapanpatti was murdered by an armed gang. The police had arrested nine persons in connection with the case including Jesudass.
There was previous enmity between Mayandi Joseph and Jesudass, who was also from Yagappanpatti. Jesudass and six others were sentenced to life imprisonment in the murder case.
Jesudass, who was out on conditional bail, was hacked to death near RMTC Nagar on Natham – Dindigul Road. Deepika was also murdered at around the same time in front of her house at Yagappanpatti.
