Eight arrested in two separate cases for possession of methamphetamine in Triplicane


The Chennai police have arrested eight persons in two separate cases for the alleged possession of methamphetamine at two locations in the Triplicane area of the city. A total of 13.5 g of methamphetamine, 1.1 kg of ganja, and ₹1,445 in cash were seized from the suspects.

Based on specific intelligence, a team of officials led by the Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Unit conducted surveillance on Thursday (December 18, 2025) morning near the junction of Bells Road and CNK Road in Triplicane. Five persons — Sarukesh (21) of Ambattur; Roshan Raj (21) of Egmore; Rabijack (26) of Chintadripet; Hari Kannan (25) of Old Washermenpet; and Rithishwar (18) of Egmore — were arrested for illegal possession of narcotic substances. As much as 8.5 g of methamphetamine, 600 g of ganja, and ₹1,070 in cash were seized from them.

In another operation conducted the same morning, ANIU personnel arrested three persons on Victoria Hostel Road in Chepauk. They were identified as: Nithish Kumar (24) of Perambur; Pramoth Madhavan (24) of Triplicane; and Reyan (23) of Chepauk. The police seized 5 g of methamphetamine, 500 g of ganja, and ₹375 in cash from them.
