Eye screening camp held for drivers in Coimbatore

As part of observing the 37th National Road Safety Month, the Traffic Wing of the Coimbatore City Police and Vasan Eye Care Hospital jointly organised an eye screening camp for drivers in the city on Thursday.

Around 400 persons, including autorickshaw drivers, taxi drivers and truck drivers, underwent free eye screening at the camp held at the police community hall at Uppilipalayam, organised under the leadership of City Police Commissioner N. Kannan.

After the screening, free eyeglasses were given to 100 drivers. The police said that free cataract surgeries have been arranged for 20 others. Drivers, who underwent the screening, were given instructions related to traffic rules and road safety.

Deputy Commissioners of Police S. Ashok Kumar (Traffic) and N. Devanathan (North), Additional Deputy Commissioner (Traffic Planning) A. Sitrarasu, traffic police officers and representatives from Vasan Eye Care were present.
