Farmers cultivating Samba (special) paddy crop in Ramanathapuram district have been asked to pay crop insurance premium under Prime Minister’s Crop Insurance Scheme by November 15.
A statement said that the scheme was being implemented by SBI General Insurance Company in Kamuthi, Kadaladi, Paramakudi, Bogalur, Nainarkovil, Mudukalthoor blocks and by Bajaj Allianz General Insurance company in Ramanathapuram, Mandapam, Tiruppullani, R.S. Mangalam, Tiruvadanai blocks.
Vllage-level notification has been issued for insuring the Samba (Special) paddy crop during its sowing season between September and November 15.
The farmers belonging to the notified villages who avail themselves of crop loan from Primary Agricultural Cooperative Credit Societies, nationalised banks or National Cooperative Banks can volunteer to pay the premium of ₹387.39 per acre at their respective banks/societies towards crop insurance.
Farmers of the notified villages who do not get crop loan can pay the same premium through common service centres by November 15.
Along with the insurance proposal, the farmers need to produce sowing certificate issued by village administrative officer, copy of the first page of their savings bank passbook linked with Aadhar.
The farmers need to verify whether their name, village name, survey number, size of the farmland and bank details were correct before getting the receipt of the premium paid.
