First priority to farmers’ land rights: Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy

Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said that the State government is looking at the issues concerning farmers, whose lands were acquired for the Khammam-Devarapalli Greenfield National Highway (NH), by according top priority to their land rights.

The Minister, on Thursday, inspected the ongoing greenfield NH works from Muthagudem entry point to Wyra exit point, along with Khammam Collector Anudeep Durishetty. Later in the day, he interacted with farmers at Muthagudem village in Penuballi mandal.

He instructed the officials concerned to resolve the issues of farmers and to ensure construction of approach roads in the available space at appropriate locations along the district stretch of the greenfield highway.

He asked the officials to take appropriate steps to prevent submergence of agricultural fields during floods and appoint one officer for every 5 km stretch to conduct field inspection during the rainy season through the National Highway Authorities of India (NHAI).

He wanted officials to issue completion certificates for the NH works only after resolving all the issues raised by farmers and addressing their concerns to safeguard their interests.
