Flood alert advisory for Chinnar Dam in Shoolagiri

A flood alert has been issued to low-lying areas along the waterways of Chinnar Dam in Shoolagiri, as the reservoir’s water level was inching to full capacity as of Wednesday evening (October 22, 2025). The water level reached 31.82 feet of the total capacity of 32.80 feet and the inflow into the reservoir was 50 cusecs. According to the administration, the excess water will be run off.

With an increase in rain in the reservoir’s catchment areas and the inflow, a flood alert has been issued to low-lying areas along the banks. People residing in villages along Chinnar are advised to move to safe places and avoid crossing the river. An advisory was also issued to Veppapalli, Praganapalli, Kollapalli, Elasumaganapalli, Sennapalli, Chinnar, Bandarkuttai, Murasupatty, Anjalam and Kolusupallam villages.
