Flood warning issued as outflow from KRS goes up

The inflow into the Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) reservoir in Mandya district has risen considerably following heavy rains in its catchment areas. Surplus water ranging between 25,000 and 40,000 cusecs is being discharged into the river.

The outflow from the reservoir may further increase in view of the forecast of rains, and hence, the Cauvery Neeravari Nigam Ltd. (CNNL), KRS, has issued a flood warning, appealing to people living along the riverbanks and in low-lying areas of the Cauvery river to move to safer places and take all necessary precautionary measures for their safety and protection of property.

At 8 a.m. on Thursday, the water level stood at the maximum level of 124.80 ft.
