Fort Wayne dad ‘Midwest Marvel Guy’ making waves across social media

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – A local father is making waves across social media as a pop-culture content creator, discussing movies and TV shows.

Nick Adams, known online as the Midwest Marvel Guy, started posting videos online 3 years ago, as a way to decompress and have fun.

“Never considered that it would be anything more than just a fun hobby and a little bit of an escape to talk about that kind of thing,” he said.

But one day, Adams noticed his videos were gaining traction, averaging over a million views on TikTok shortly after the birth of his son.

“We were at the hospital, he actually had a condition, we had to be at Riley’s down in Indy for seven weeks, and so we spent a lot of time there, I’d make a lot of videos to kill down time, and at the time, Stranger Things Season 4 had released, turns out that was a really big hit content-wise,” Adams said.

“People were super into that, and I had a lot of videos that were just constantly doing millions of views. Along with that came tens of thousands of followers, and, it’s funny, my wife and I were talking about this just the other day, I remember sitting in the hospital room with her and thinking – this could be more than just a hobby, this could be something that actually benefits us down the road.”

Despite the success Adams has found online, he isn’t quitting his day job as a salesman just yet, citing the uncertainties of a full-time social media career.

Nonetheless, his passion and dedication for movies and TV paid off in ways he would have never imagined.

“It still feels surreal (…) probably the coolest thing for me that I still pinch myself with, is that I was actually able to purchase a car, a new car, a couple months ago with the money I’ve gotten from social media,” said Adams.
