Four held for illegal possession of e-cigarettes


The Triplicane Police have arrested four men for illegally possessing banned e-cigarettes for sale. Based on a tip-off received by the Triplicane Police Inspector, a team conducted surveillance at a lodge on Lal Begum Cross Street, Triplicane, on Sunday afternoon. Following surveillance, they arrested four persons namely- Mohamed Ajisullah, 32, of Triplicane, Prabhakaran, 28, of Batlagundu, Dindigul district, Kadhar Hussain, 34, of Triplicane and Thameem Ansari, 28, of Vyasarpadi.

Police seized 83 banned e-cigarettes from them. Further investigation revealed that the accused had been purchasing e-cigarettes from Delhi and Mumbai through courier and selling them illegally in Chennai.

Meanwhile, a team led by the Inspector of Periamet Police conducted surveillance near Park Railway Station on Sunday afternoon and arrested a man, Jitendra Sharma, 32, from Bihar, for possessing ganja-laced chocolates. Police seized 35 ganja chocolates weighing a total of 175 grams from him.
