The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) will hold a two-day Open House to highlight citizen-identified public space projects and encourage their adoption and funding by the city’s five corporations and external partners. The Open House, scheduled for February 6 and 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m at the Town Hall, is part of the city-level initiative “Bayasidante Bayalu”, launched in May 2025 to revitalise underutilised public spaces across Bengaluru.
The initiative aims to change Bengaluru’s roads and streets as transport corridors as inclusive, citizen-centric public spaces. As part of this, citizens were invited to nominate neglected or underused public spaces in their neighbourhoods for improvement.
Officials said the response was substantial, with over 250 nominations received from across the city. After preliminary checks, 194 locations were identified as feasible and added to a city-level public repository.
According to data shared by the GBA, the Central City Corporation accounts for 43 identified locations, followed by the South City Corporation with 50 sites, the North City Corporation with 49, the West City Corporation with 31, and the East City Corporation with 21.
