General Hospital fans hear talk about Cesar Faison (Anders Hove) and his possible resurrection, today we look at what a monster he is and why Port Charles should be absolutely terrified if he is back.
We’re going to dig into the uber villain of all villains, the one that Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) is so scared is back from the dead, Cesar Faison.
General Hospital: Anna’s Notes
If you remember, before she was kidnapped, Anna really started to believe that Faison might be alive even though he was supposedly killed seven years ago at the hands of his own son, Peter August (Wes Ramsey), aka Heinrich Faison. Anna recently said if anybody could lull everybody into a false sense of security and pretend to be dead for this long, it would be Faison.
Also on her little list of notes she’s making in captivity is the fact that there’s been resurrections tied to him because, you know, three of Faison’s kids were supposedly dead and now two of them just resurfaced: Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) and Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud). That means there’s a chance that the worst of Faison’s spawn, Peter August, might be the next one to come back from the dead. I do expect him to either return or we find out he’s living in Nathan’s head because his memories were implanted in his brother.
So, it’s absolutely possible that Faison is also back, at least for a short arc. And that’s why I just wanted to remind you all the good reasons that Anna is worried that this guy is not dead and what it means for Port Charles if Cesar Faison really is alive and that’s somebody else’s brain in the jar on Kevin Collins’ (Jon Lindstrom) desk.
Cesar Faison’s Twisted History and Obsession with Anna
Now, if you don’t remember, Faison debuted on General Hospital 35 years ago. It was back in 1990. It was a very weird origin story that had a lot of depth to it. Anna and Holly Sutton (Emma Samms) had this nanny when they were kids. And that woman was Faison’s mom. So, deep backstory. And then when he showed up, he was initially working for the crime cartel, the one called DVX. He worked his way up until Faison was actually running DVX.
Anna had turned double agent back in the day. It seemed like she was betraying the WSB when she went to work for DVX, but she was actually trying to infiltrate and take it down from the inside. Then he got on her radar and Faison became absolutely obsessed with Anna. And his fixation lasted all the way till his death. Meanwhile, Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) was obsessively in love with Faison and she hated his obsessive love for Anna.
Now that Faison’s dead and gone, Anna and Liesl kind of get along despite hating each other for years. But Faison was the issue and he was out of the picture. Also, Liesl got out from under his spell. That helped a lot. But back when she still loved Faison, we saw Liesl helping Faison fake Robin Scorpio’s (Kimberly McCullough) death. And that tormented Anna.

Master of Disguise: Faison’s Reign of Terror and Villainous Alliances
Over the years, Faison has kidnapped Anna many, many times. Faison once wore a mask to appear as Duke Lavery (Ian Buchanan), who was the love of Anna’s life. And it worked well enough for Faison to get really close to Anna. But she was horrified when she found out she had been involved with Faison who was pretending to be Duke.
Faison didn’t work alone. He usually had some other villain that was collaborating with him. And he worked with a lot of the big villains on GH. He worked with Jerry Jacks (Sebastian Roche) when he was poisoning Port Charles’s water supply. Faison also plotted with villainess Helena Cassadine (Formerly Constance Towers). She and Faison did a bunch of mind control and memory mapping experiments. And they were the ones that had Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) thinking he was really his twin, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton).
Faison was also very skilled at pretending to be other people and doing bad deeds. There was a lot of mask work back in the day and we had other actors actually playing the role because of the mask thing. In addition to using the Duke mask to date Anna, Faison actually was wearing it when he shot Jason and kicked him into the harbor hoping he would die. And of course he came back. Faison also tried to kill Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) while he was wearing a Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary) mask. That was back when Tony Geary was actually playing the role.
A Legacy of Evil: Faison’s Toxic Influence on His Children
So Faison is dangerous. He has brainwashed, kidnapped, murdered, and tormented so many people on General Hospital. Plus, he’s cheated death many, many times. One notable time was when Helena Cassadine blew up a boat he was on, but he survived because he’s a cockroach. You can’t kill him.
Faison, by the way, is also a really terrible parent. He’s the reason Britt was such a villain when she first came to GH because she was always trying to prove herself to Faison by doing bad. Then we found out Nathan was Faison’s, but Liesl had her sister Madeline Reeves (Donna Mills) raise him to keep him away from Faison, which is why he came out good.
Peter was another toxic offspring of Faison’s. Peter is the spawn of Faison and Anna’s evil twin, Alex (Finola Hughes). And she had hidden him away. So he had been, I believe, adopted by people. But then with Valentin Cassadine’s (James Patrick Stuart) help, Faison got his hands on Peter and was raising him, just treating him terribly. Faison let Britt and Peter both know, of course, they were never good enough for him. But eventually Faison sent Peter away to boarding school.
And then Valentin started watching out for him and became a much better father figure because he felt guilty for giving Peter to Faison. But in the end, Peter turned out to be almost as bad as his dad, even though he didn’t want to be. And he was super jealous of Nathan, who was the good son.
Is Faison Back? The Chilling Clues Pointing to a Villain’s Resurrection
Let’s just hope that it’s either Faison or Peter back as part of this plot. And they’re not both back, because that would be too many villains. It’d be truly scary if Faison and his bad seed son were both back on the scene. If you remember, Peter killed Faison in a fit of jealous rage in 2018. He had been shot and Faison was in the hospital and Peter came into his room and finished him off.
So with Nathan and Britt back, it seems increasingly likely that Faison could be back. Anna is being held captive below Wyndemere right now and she suspects Faison is involved. And him working with Sidwell (Carlo Rota) is another truly terrifying notion, but it would be very much like him since he likes to have co-conspirators and Sidwell is ultimately evil. Plus, we know that Britt is working on experiments related to her dad Faison’s final research and Sidwell’s the one financing it and Pascal is there to enforce things.
With Anna taken for no real clear reason that we’ve seen yet, that’s another red flag that Faison may be back and behind Anna’s abduction. Plus, Faison loves to lurk down in the catacombs and secret passages of Spoon Island and below Wyndemere. He’s hidden out there several times in the past. That would absolutely explain why Sidwell bought the property. So, we’re going to find out soon who’s the mastermind, the Uber boss that Sidwell is working for. And it very well could be Faison and everybody should be terrified.
