A government bus conductor was booked on Friday (October 17, 2025) on charges of sexually assaulting schoolgirls.
On Wednesday (October 15), a 13-year-old schoolgirl boarded a government bus from Avanaiyur to reach her school. According to the police, the bus conductor Chinnasamy, 45, a resident of Sithur near Edappadi, allegedly sexually assaulted the girl.
After school, in the evening, the girl spoke to her mother about the incident, and also said the conductor had been misbehaving with six other girls who take the bus regularly. Following this, the girl’s mother lodged a complaint with the Sankari All Women’s Police on Thursday (October 16) evening.
The police registered a case under Sections 7 and 8 of the Protection of Children From Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against the bus conductor on Friday. Further investigation is under way.
