The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall for the districts of SPSR Nellore and Tirupati on Monday (November 17, 2025) due to a low pressure that has formed over southwest Bay of Bengal. An orange alert has been given for the two districts.
Other places in the districts of Prakasam, Annamayya and Chittoor districts may receive heavy rainfall on Monday (November 17), while light showers are expected at one or two places in South Coastal A.P. and Rayalaseema.
On Tuesday (November 18), light showers may continue in Rayalaseema and South Coastal A.P. while one or two places in the districts of Tirupati, Chittoor and SPSR Nellore may receive heavy rainfall. North Coastal Andhra Pradesh will see a dry weather on these two days.
According to the IMD, under the influence of the upper air cyclonic circulation, a low-pressure area formed over southwest Bay of Bengal, off Sri Lanka, at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday (November 15) and persisted over the same region at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday (November 16). The associated upper air cyclonic circulation extends upto 5.8 km above mean sea level tilting southwest with height. It is likely to move slowly west northwestward during next 24 hours, the IMD said in its 1 p.m. bulletin on Sunday (November 16).
