Helpline set up for stranded travellers from Belagavi

The Belagavi district administration has set up a helpline to assist travellers stuck in West Asian countries.

Due to the unstable situation prevailing in some countries in the region, there has been a disruption in international flight services.

Residents of Belagavi district or their relatives can contact the following phone numbers for more information and assistance: the District Emergency Operations Centre 0831-2407290, 080-22340676, 080-22253707 or the toll-free number: 1070.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan has urged travellers from the State to strictly follow the safety guidelines issued by the local governments there. Those in distress should call the helpline of the Indian Embassy in the respective country or register on the Sarthi Sahayata portal.

Mr. Roshan said that in case of visa-related issues, the nearest FRRO office should be contacted.

Airspace of a total of 11 countries, including Iran, Israel, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia, has been closed until March 2. Due to this unexpected disruption, many travellers from Karnataka are stranded in various countries, including the UAE, particularly Dubai.

As per directions of the Chief Minister and Revenue Minister, the State and District Emergency Operation Centres are functioning round the clock.

Officers are constantly monitoring the instructions issued by the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy, said a release.
