2. Elephants of Mysuru Dasara poised to carry forward the golden legacy
The countdown for the Vijayadashmi procession, marking the grand finale of the Mysuru Dasara, has begun. For many, the grandeur of the celebration rests not only on the royal pageantry and cultural programmes but in the strength and dignity personified by the caparisoned elephants, who will be led by veteran tusker Abhimanyu, slated to carry the 750 kg golden howdah.
All the elephants have been put through intensive training since August, including a daily march from the palace to Bannimantap Grounds to get acclimatised to the din of the city and its people. While Abhimanyu and Mahendra have been trained to carry the golden howdah, other trials include familiarisation to the sound of the canon firing, giving salute to the guests at the podium etc.

4. Former MP Prajwal Revanna challenges conviction in rape case in Karnataka High Court
Former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna has approached the Karnataka High Court appealing against his conviction in a rape case. A special court that convicted Revanna in August had sentenced him to imprisonment for the remainder of his life in one of the four rape cases against him, and imposed imposed a total fine of ₹11.50 lakh on him.
Revanna, who was arrested in May 2024 after returning from Germany, is contesting the verdict on several grounds, including what he claims are contradictions in the survivor’s testimony and inconsistencies in the evidence produced by the prosecution.
