History of teams pulling out of matches in ICC men’s tournaments

The ICC T20 World Cup is yet to begin, and we already have one team, Bangladesh, being withdrawn from the tournament, and Pakistan boycotting its match against India in Colombo.

Bangladesh had requested to shift its matches from India to Sri Lanka, over perceived security concerns. But the ICC turned down the request, and with Bangladesh refusing to send its team to India, they were replaced by Scotland.

We are going to look back at two such episodes from the past in ICC men’s tournaments. One from 1996, when West Indies and Australia refused to tour Sri Lanka, and the other from 2003, when England and New Zealand pulled out of playing in Zimbabwe and Kenya respectively.
