Online bookings to visit the restored Victoria Public Hall saw brisk response, with several slots getting filled soon after reservations opened on Thursday, Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) officials said.

Each time slot with the duration of each visit fixed at 90 minutes — scheduled between 8.30 a.m. and 6 p.m. — currently allows up to 60 visitors.

“The time duration is only on a trial basis now and could be increased in the future if visitors require more time,” a GCC official said. An audio-visual show is also available, for which visitors are required to select one or more shows while completing their reservation, depending on the number of visitors in a group.

Entry charges have been fixed at ₹25 for the general public. Students above the age of 10 and senior citizens are charged ₹10 each. Children below 10 years of age are allowed free entry, as are persons with disabilities (PwD).

Foreign tourists are charged ₹50. Entry is free for Chennai Corporation and Government school students. “If private schools show interest, attempts would be made to accommodate all students from a school within a single slot,” the official added.

Slots booked quickly

Several time slots were booked quickly after the booking portal was opened, and officials said there was considerable interest among the public to visit the restored heritage structure.

The Victoria Public Hall was inaugurated after restoration by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on December 24, 2025. The restoration work was taken up by the Chennai Corporation in 2023 at a cost of ₹32.62 crore.
