OMRON, a Japanese player in industrial automation technology, on Wednesday said it would train and skill 1,000 fresh engineering graduates every year at its newly opened automation centre in Bengaluru, to help India increase “employable talent” in manufacturing and build a resilient, future-ready industrial ecosystem.
Motohiro Yamanishi, President, Industrial Automation Company, OMRON Corporation, in a media conference said, “We see immense potential in the dynamism of India’s manufacturing sector. The new Automation Centre underscores India’s profound importance to our global as well as Asia Pacific vision and is designed to work hand-in-hand with local partners to enhance their global competitiveness and jointly address evolving societal needs through innovative automation.’‘
According to Mr. Yamanishi, the training would be offered to fresh graduates, across diverse disciplines, with a view to equip them with automation technology skills and make them readily employable by the manufacturing industry in India.
“This new centre is more than a showcase of technology. It is an engine for co-creation. With smart technologies driving efficiency and innovation, facilities like these are set to be one of the key catalysts in India’s journey toward becoming a global manufacturing leader,” he added.
The new automation centre, part of OMRON’s global network of 44 such facilities and Proof of Concept (POC) labs, would cater to the talent and service requirement of manufacturers, including micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), across the country. The centre would offer practical automation solutions for manufacturing challenges, facilitate proof-of-concept development, provide technical training, and enable collaboration with manufacturers, machine builders, and system integrators to strengthen India’s manufacturing capabilities.
The Automation Center is a dynamic hub where an experienced team of specialists facilitate demonstration and interactions with manufactures around a comprehensive suite of advanced technology based solutions, including sensing, control, machine vision, safety, robotics, and AI-driven technologies developed by OMRON as well as its global and regional partners.
Sameer Gandhi, Managing Director, OMRON Automation, India said, “Our Automation Center takes a solutions-based approach to help Indian manufacturers tackle the challenges of building safer workplaces, delivering higher quality products, and improve efficiencies.’‘
OMRON solutions for data visualisation, flexible assembly, primary and secondary packaging, end-to-end inspection, quality inspection and automated palletising and many others are designed to support industry sectors including electric mobility, digital, food and commodities, logistics, and pharmaceuticals, and others.
