Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya on September 28, 2025, launched piped natural gas (PNG) line work in Jayanagar at SBI Colony, J.P. Nagar 1st Phase. The project marked a significant step toward cleaner, safer, and more cost-effective energy for households in the city.
Highlighting the economic benefits of PNG, Mr Surya in a press release stated that families can expect to save ₹200 to ₹300 per cylinder on average. He added that PNG is considered safer than conventional LPG.
Mr. Surya said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government “is working to provide 100% coverage of PNG in Bengaluru. So far, in Bengaluru South, residents of Bommanahalli and BTM constituency are availing piped gas connection.”
The cost for PNG at SBI Layout is estimated to be between ₹1.5 to ₹2 crore with GAIL providing the entire setup.
The MP was joined by BJP MLA CK Ramamurthy , GAIL CGM Sanjay Singh, and other BJP leaders.
