The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (Jipmer) has scheduled its 14th convocation ceremony on Tuesday (January 20, 2026).
The Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare and Chemicals & Fertilizers, Anupriya Patel, will be the chief guest for the event and will deliver the convocation address at the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Auditorium in Jipmer, a press note said.
Among the dignitaries expected to participate are Lt. Governor K. Kailashnathan, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, Speaker R. Selvam, MPs and MLAs. C.N. Manjunath, Lok Sabha MP, and A. Namassivayam, Home Minister, are special guests.
Jipmer president Chitra Sarkar will preside over the event.
A total of 941 students will be awarded degrees during the convocation, comprising 39 PhD, 49 DM, 26 M.Ch., 11 PDCC, 9 PDF, 269 MD, 129 MS, 1 MDS and 408 MBBS graduates, marking a major academic milestone for the institution.
In recognition of academic excellence, 180 students will receive medals and endowment prizes, including 83 Undergraduate, 90 Postgraduate and 7 Super-Specialty candidates, for securing the highest marks in their respective disciplines.
Jipmer director Vir Singh Negi will present a report highlighting the institution’s achievements in medical education, patient care and research.
