Kanniyakumari District Superintendent of Police (SP) R. Stalin has launched QR code containing helpline numbers and complaint registration portals to ensure the safety of children, women and the general public in the district.

In order to enhance public safety, especially for those travelling in autos and public transport vehicles, a QR code sticker will be pasted at prominent locations. The code integrates multidepartment helpline numbers along with complaint portals. It includes helpline numbers of District SP’s whatsapp number, contact number of all police stations in the district, district police control room, fire and rescue service, child protection, women’s helpline, highway patrol, ambulance service and other essential helpline numbers.

The QR code also provides access to key complaint portals such as Tamil Nadu Police Citizen Portal, cybercrime complaint registration and Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) Portal for reporting lost mobile phones. Additionally, links to official social media pages of district police have been included for public engagement and updates.

At the event, Mr. Stalin affixed QR code stickers to auto-rickshaws and said the initiative would be greatly beneficial for the public during emergencies.

The district police also plan to display QR code stickers in schools, colleges, buses and other public transportation mediums. Prominent displays will be installed in bus stands, railway stations and other high-footfall areas to ensure easy access for everyone.
