Kannur, Kasaragod record huge turnout in local body polls


Local body elections in Kannur and Kasaragod were peaceful, with large number of people turning out to cast their votes in the districts.

According to the Election Commission, a total of 8,32,629 (74.86%) people cast their votes in Kasaragod, while 16,03,205 (76.77%) voters exercised franchise in Kannur.

Among the eight municipalites in Kannur, Anthoor witnessed a huge turnout of voters (87.82%). This was followed by Irrity (83.04%), Payyannur (80.07%), Kuthuparamba (79.04%) ,Taliparamba (76.29%), Sreekandapuram (74.4%), Thalassery (72.68%), and Panur (70.8%).

In Kasaragod, a total of 8,30,846 cast their votes.

Among the municipalities, Kasaragod recorded 67.87%, Kanhangad 74.52% and Nileswaram 78.36%.
