Kavyashree Ajeru, yakshagana bhagavata (singer), has been selected for the Sri Kundeshwara Samman of Sri Kundeshwara Kshetra of Hirgana, Karkala.
The award is instituted in memory of Raghavendra Bhat, who was the Temple’s trustee, a yakshagana organiser, an artist and a philanthropist. The award will be presented to Ms. Ajeru on January 23, said convener of the selection committee Jitendra Kundeshwara at a press conference on January 14.
The Temple’s annual fair will be held from January 21 to 23. On January 23 at 7 p.m., the Kadri Mahila Yakshakoota will perform a women’s yakshagana, directed by Ramachandra Bhatt Ellur, followed by a Tulu drama by the Bedra troupe.
The Kundeshwar Kalabhushan Award, given to theatre artists, will be presented to Umesh Mijaru.
