The Korukkupet police arrested four persons who were travelling in an express train of possessing unaccounted cash on Sunday.
A senior officer of the City police said a special police team was conducting intensive checks on trains to apprehend ganja smugglers from Andhra Pradesh. During the search operation on board the Jodhpur-Mannargudi train, the police team checked the bags of four passengers on suspicion.
During the search operation on board the Jodhpur-Mannargudi train, the team seized more than ₹70 lakh in cash from the bags of four passengers from Nellore district on suspicion. They did not give a valid reason for possessing the cash nor showed valid documents. They were identified as Suresh Babu, 68, Kamal, 35, Gopi Kishore, 61, and Pasullakhan, 52.
