Workers belonging to the Communist Party of India, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist), on Monday took out a march demanding the recall of the new labour codes. The workers took out the march from Immaculate Church to the Chief Secretariat but police stopped the protestors near J. N Street.

They raised slogans against the Central government for introducing the labour codes without holding any consultation with trade unions. Puducherry CPI secretary A. M Saleem, CPI M secretary S. Ramachandran, VCK principal secretary Deva Pozhilan, former legislator Nara Kalainathan and CPI(M) veteran V. Perumal were among those participated in the protest march.
