A leopard was spotted at Anjanapura in Bengaluru on the night of February 2. The movement of the leopard walking around 7th cross of Anjanpura was captured by CCTV at around 2 a.m.
Forest Department officials confirmed that the leopard was spotted in the locality and said that it could have come from the forest area around Roerich Estate.
Officials said that a team was deployed soon after receiving information about the leopard’s movement.
However, the leopard could not be traced and officials said it most likely has gone back from where it came.
“The spot where the leopard movement was seen is a residential area that is sparsely populated. There are only a few houses with many vacant plots and there are many bushes. The leopard may have come here to take cover in the bushes,” said an official.
The official added that a cage may be placed if the leopard is spotted again in the vicinity.
“We conducted a thorough search in the area, the leopard has most likely gone back to the forest area,” the official added.
The CCTV footage was widely circulated on WhatsApp groups asking cautious and vigilant, from dawn to dusk and also to keep a close watch on children and pets.
