Mahesh Shetty Thimarody moves for anticipatory bail

Activist Mahesh Shetty Thimarody, who has been at large since registration of the case for alleged illegal possession of arms, has filed an application seeking bail in anticipation of his arrest in the case..

The bail application under Section 482 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita was filed before the Principal District and Sessions Judge on Tuesday. The application will come up for hearing on Wednesday before the sessions court, to which the Principal Judge will allot it.

Following a complaint by the Special Investigation Team of discovering two swords and a gun at Mr Thimarody’s house during the search on August 26, the Belthangady police registered the case on September 16 under Sections 25(1), 25(1-a) and 25(1-B)(a) of the Arms Act. Mr Thimarody had failed to appear before the investigation officer for inquiry despite the issuance of a notice.
