An awareness programme was organised by the Medical Oncology Department of King George Hospital (KGH) as part of the ongoing ‘breast cancer awareness month’ at the KGH, here, on Saturday (October 11).
Superintendent of KGH I Vani and HoD of Radiology Butchibabu, participated as guests.
Dr. Butchibabu explained that early detection of breast cancer was possible by going for a mammogram screening test. He suggested that all women, above 40, should get the mammogram screening done. It would be done free of cost at KGH, he said, and called upon all eligible women to avail of the facility.
Dr. Vani spoke on women’s health and protection of girls from various diseases.
Advocate Divya Prasad, who participated as chief guest, said that the health of a family was dependent on a woman’s health, and hence women should not neglect their own health. She hailed government hospitals and government doctors for their yeomen services to the common people. Later, she went round the Oncology ward and interacted with the patients.
HOD of Medical Oncology K. Shilpa felicitated Ms. Divya Prasad and Dr. Vani. Later, the guests released pink balloons into the air to mark the ‘pink month’ (breast cancer awareness month).
