Man from Rajasthan held for selling narcotics


A 29-year-old man from Rajasthan was arrested on Wednesday for possessing and selling opium in the city.

The accused has been identified as Rakesh Kurjar, 29 from Pali district, Rajasthan. He was apprehended by the Prohibition Enforcement Wing (PEW) police when they conducted a search near the Central Railway Station following a tip-off. Police seized 1.70 kg of opium.

Preliminary inquiry revealed that he had moved to Chennai, a few years ago and was residing in Otteri where he was working with a caterer. He frequently travelled to Rajasthan to procure drugs and was engaged in selling it to locals in the city, said police.
