A 37-year-old man stabbed his wife to death in a family dispute here on Friday (October 17, 2025).
The arrested was identified as A. Kannan, a resident of Tagore Street in Dadagapatti. His wife is Rathi Devi (27), the deceased.
Kannan allegedly consumed liquor regularly and quarrelled with his wife. Following this, she, along with her children, stayed at her brother C. Kathiresan’s (30) house for the past months in the same locality.
On Friday, Kannan came to Karthiresan’s house and asked his wife to come with him, which she refused. Irked by this, he allegedly stabbed her using a knife and while Kathiresan tried to prevent him, he threatened him and fled from the spot. Kathiresan took his sister to a hospital, but she died on the way. The Annathanapatti police registered a case and arrested him on Friday night. He was remanded in prison.
