A special court for trial of cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, Jagtial, has sentenced 24-year-old Marripelli Sainath to undergo 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹2,000 for raping a minor girl in Mallapur mandal of Jagtial district in 2021.
After the completion of the trial, Principal District and Sessions Judge, (Full Additional Charge) Special Sessions Judge for POCSO cases, Jagtial, Ratna Padmavathi, on Tuesday delivered the verdict.
The judge awarded a compensation of ₹2 lakh to the victim.
Meanwhile, Jagtial Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar, in a statement, appreciated the efforts of the special public prosecutor, the investigating officer and his team members for ensuring conviction to the accused in the minor girl’s rape case.
