The Special Court for Trial of Cases under Prevention of Corruption Act in Madurai on Thursday sentenced A. Rahman alias Kaleel ul Rahman to four year rigorous imprisonment for demanding and accepting bribe.
Judge R. Barathiraja imposed a fine of ₹4,000 on Rahman, who worked as an Assistant in the Office of the Special Deputy Collector (Stamps) in Madurai.
In 2015, he demanded and accepted ₹40,000 as bribe from the complainant A.M. Kathiresan for making arrangements to release a registered document prepared in the name of his daughter-in-law.
